Jennifer Kong, D.D.S.

While not a native Texan, as they say, Dr. Jennifer Kong got here as soon as she could. Her family moved to Houston when she was only four years old. Dr. Kong grew up in the Alief area prior to moving to Bellaire, Texas. She graduated magma cum laude from Bellaire High School, and cum laude from Rice University with a degree in Economics. Eager to utilize her analytical skills and economics background, Dr. Kong initially pursued a career in the Energy Industry as an analyst. She worked on the trading floors of four major energy companies in the capacity of fundamental market analysis and risk management.

During a quarter-life crisis, Dr. Kong decided that working in front of a computer all day was not her passion. In the search for another career, she found the perfect blend of science, art, and human interaction in the profession of dentistry. She enthusiastically completed her dental training at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston where she graduated with numerous distinctions: election to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, the AAPD Predoctoral Student Award, the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry, the Mu Mu Chapter of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Scholarship Award, Outstanding Achievement in the Department of Prosthodontics, and the Dean’s Student Excellence List. Additionally, to help broaden her clinical experiences while in dental school, Dr. Kong completed externships at the Ohio State University/Nationwide Children’s Hospital Pediatric Dental Clinic, in Columbus, OH, and at the Indian Health Services, Native American Health Center, in San Francisco, CA.

Through her volunteer activities and patient interactions during dental school, Dr. Kong realized again what she had always known: that she loves working with children! This realization helped guide her to pursue an advanced education in pediatric dentistry at the University of Texas School of Dentistry, where she graduated with a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Kong feels so fortunate to have found and changed to such a wonderful profession. She looks forward to working with your family in providing optimal oral care for your children.

Dr. Kong and her husband have one daughter, Madeline, and a wonderful rescue dog Dodgeit (pronounced "Dodge-it!")who has cultivated Maddie's love of dogs. A former physical fitness enthusiast, Dr. Kong now works out by chasing after both daughter and dog.
